QuantaStor 5 appliances on Bare Metal servers deliver new levels of agility to IT organizations seeking dedicated, highly-secure and hyper-scalable storage solutions across the IBM Cloud. Featuring unified file, block and object protocol support, and unique grid management technology, QuantaStor storage appliances address a broad set of workloads including server virtualization, big data, cloud backup, media editing, deep archive, and high-performance compute applications. QuantaStor 5 is designed, integrated and certified for use with all Mass Storage Servers in IBM Cloud datacenters worldwide.

QuantaStor Server Deployment Guide

The following step-by-step process is designed to assist you select, order and provision the QuantaStor server on IBM Cloud Bare Metal that best fits your requirements:
1. Choose the QuantaStor solution to match your use case. QuantaStor is versatile storage software with capabilities that are divided broadly into scale-up file and block solutions or scale-out file, block and object solutions. More information regarding QuantaStor capabilities are published in the Solution Matrix.
2. Click on the specific Solution links below for detailed help with IBM Cloud hardware selection and QuantaStor provisioning instructions that follow OSNEXUS best practice guidelines. Each of our solution guides has specific hardware reference configurations based on the storage capacity of your QuantaStor server, or you can customize your build using our Solution Design Tool for IBM Cloud here.
3. Detailed QuantaStor documentation can be found here.

Solutions

QuantaStor SAN/NAS servers provide block (iSCSI) and file (NFS/SMB) storage for a wide variety of use cases including server virtualization, data analytics, backup storage and databases/OLTP. Hybrid configurations leverage a combination of HDDs and SSDs to provide fast and reliable, storage on cost-efficient hardware.

SAN/NAS Storage Servers

QuantaStor Scale-Out block and object storage based on Ceph technology provide block and S3 compatible object storage using erasure-coding and replica-based data distribution technology to achieve high-availability and fault-tolerance.

Scale-out Object Storage Cluster

QuantaStor Dedicated Appliances for VMware storage servers provide VMware certified NFS and iSCSI storage with advanced features including encryption, compression, and remote-replication.

Dedicated SAN/NAS Appliances for VMware

QuantaStor NAS gateway appliances can be configured to periodically back-up local NAS storage to IBM Cloud Object Storage as objects or cache metadata as a pure NAS pass-thru gateway to IBM Cloud Object Storage.
