Assign/Unassign an existing configuration.

The purpose of "Assign/Unassign Multi-Factor Authentication Configuration to Users" in QuantaStor is to enable administrators to do the following:

  • Assign MFA Configuration: Administrators can link a specific Multi-Factor Authentication configuration to a user account. This means that the selected user will be required to complete the MFA process during login, providing an additional layer of security beyond a traditional username and password.
  • Manage User-Specific MFA: QuantaStor allows administrators to tailor the MFA settings for each user individually. Not all users may need or be required to use MFA, so the "Assign/Unassign Multi-Factor Authentication Configuration to Users" feature provides flexibility in setting up MFA only for specific accounts that require enhanced security.
  • Control MFA for User Accounts: If a user loses their MFA device or encounters issues with MFA, the administrator can temporarily disable MFA for that user or reassign a new MFA configuration. This feature allows for convenient management of MFA for user accounts.

By assigning MFA configurations to specific users, QuantaStor allows administrators to implement a more robust and secure authentication mechanism. This is especially important for users with elevated privileges, such as system administrators, who need access to critical storage management functions and data.

It's worth noting that Multi-Factor Authentication is considered a best practice for securing sensitive systems and data, as it significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security incidents that may result from compromised passwords.
