Hardware Compatibility List / Recommended Hardware

QuantaStor is based on Linux, specifically QuantaStor v3 is based on Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS with the latest QuantaStor releases including a 3.13 series linux kernel, hardware support is very broad. That said, the below Hardware has been tested for specific compatibility with QuantaStor to ensure system stability, performance and compatibility. If you have questions about specific hardware compatibility please contact support@osnexus.com for assistance.

Servers / HA Head unit

QuantaStor supports all Dell, HP, IBM/Lenovo, SuperMicro, and Intel servers that use the Intel Nehalem, Romley, Ivy Bridge or Haswell-EP platforms.

External Expansion Storage / JBOD

QuantaStor supports SAS external Expansion Shelves / JBOD devices from Dell, HP, IBM/Lenovo and SuperMicro.

OSNEXUS recommends the use of expansions shelves / JBODs that have redundant SAS Expanders or ESM(Enclosure Service Module) with three or more SAS expansion ports per module to allow for SAS multipathing and chaining of expansion shelves.

RAID Controllers

OSNEXUS recommends that RAID controllers be equipped with a battery or capacitor backed up memory cache such as a BBU/CacheVault/MaxCache device.

Disk Devices

OSNEXUS recommends the use of Enterprise Disks that have MTBF ratings suited for storage of critical data. For specific Hardware Compatibility, please refer to the specific compatibility list from the vendor who makes your RAID Controller or SAS HBA.

SSD Disk Devices

OSNEXUS recommends the use of Enterprise SSDs that have MTBFratings and wear leveing technology suited for storage of critical data. For specific Hardware Compatibility, please refer to the specific compatibility list from the vendor who makes your RAID Controller or SAS HBA.

Fibre Channel HBAs (Target)

The below list is for Fibre Channel HBA's supported for use on the FC SCSI Target feature in QuantaStor SDS.

Network Interface Cards

QuantaStor supports most 1GB and 10/100 network cards on the market today. Below is the list of high speed Network Interface Cards that have been tested by OSNEXUS Engineering.

Infiniband Adapters

Initiator NICs & HBAs

There are no known limitations with hardware on the initiator side. The following list outlines the network adapters that engineers at OSNEXUS have tested for stability, performance and compatibility.
