QuantaStor elects a 'master node' (also called 'Grid Primary' and 'Grid Master' node) through which configuration changes are communicated through across the grid in order to keep all nodes in sync with the latest configuration state. When a storage grid is initially configured the 'master node' is the first node that the grid was created on and will stay there until another node is manually designated as the new storage grid master node. You can easily tell which system is the current master node as the Storage System icon is different with a small triangle of systems linked together. In order to make the change over to another grid master node automatic you'll need to add a Cluster VIF that has this express purpose of electing the current master node.

Navigation: High-availability VIF Management--> Storage Cluster Virtual Interfaces --> Virtual Interface Management --> Add Cluster VIF (toolbar)

Within the dialog choose 'Grid Primary' from the 'Use Case Settings'. Next press the 'Next' button and assign an unused IP address to the VIF. When created it'll have a "gm:" tag in the name.
