This action will remove the credentials.

The "Remove Cloud Provider Credentials" feature in QuantaStor serves the purpose of removing the credentials or authentication tokens associated with a cloud provider from the QuantaStor storage system. Cloud provider credentials typically include access keys, secret keys, or other authentication tokens required for QuantaStor to access cloud storage services, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Note: You will not be able to access backups in the containers associated with those credentials.

The purpose of removing cloud provider credentials in QuantaStor includes:

  • Security: Removing cloud provider credentials helps enhance the security of the storage environment by revoking access to cloud storage services. This prevents unauthorized access to cloud resources in the event of credential compromise or unauthorized access to the QuantaStor system.
  • Compliance: Removing cloud provider credentials may be necessary to comply with security and compliance policies, industry regulations, or data protection laws. Organizations may need to periodically review and revoke unused or unnecessary credentials to maintain compliance with security standards and best practices.
  • Risk Mitigation: Revoking cloud provider credentials mitigates the risk of unauthorized access, data breaches, or security incidents associated with compromised or leaked credentials. By removing credentials from QuantaStor, organizations can reduce the potential impact of security vulnerabilities or attacks targeting cloud storage services.
  • Resource Management: Removing unused or unnecessary cloud provider credentials helps optimize resource management within the QuantaStor storage system. This ensures that only active and authorized credentials are retained, reducing clutter and simplifying credential management for administrators.
  • Cost Control: Cloud provider credentials are often associated with costs based on usage, data transfer, or other factors. Removing unused or unnecessary credentials helps control costs by eliminating unnecessary expenses associated with unused or redundant cloud storage services.
  • Auditing and Accountability: Revoking cloud provider credentials creates an audit trail of credential management activities within the QuantaStor system. This enables organizations to maintain accountability and traceability for credential-related actions, facilitating compliance audits and security investigations.

Overall, the purpose of removing cloud provider credentials in QuantaStor is to enhance security, comply with regulatory requirements, mitigate risks, optimize resource management, control costs, and maintain auditing and accountability for credential-related activities within the storage environment.
