Associate or disassociate storage volumes with a specific provisioning quota.

The purpose of "Add/Remove Volumes to/from Provisioning Quota" in QuantaStor is to associate or disassociate storage volumes with a specific provisioning quota. This feature allows administrators to control the allocation of storage capacity by adding or removing volumes from a quota, thereby managing the resources that are included in the quota's capacity calculations and enforcement.

Here are the main purposes and benefits of adding or removing volumes to/from a provisioning quota in QuantaStor:

  • Resource Allocation Control: By associating volumes with a provisioning quota, administrators can control the allocation of storage capacity to the quota. Volumes that are added to the quota are considered part of the allocated capacity, while volumes that are removed from the quota are excluded from the allocation. This allows for fine-grained control over which volumes are included in a quota and how much capacity is assigned to it.
  • Quota Enforcement: When volumes are associated with a provisioning quota, the quota's capacity limit applies to the combined capacity of those volumes. If the total capacity of the associated volumes exceeds the quota limit, further allocations or operations may be restricted or denied, depending on the quota enforcement settings. Adding or removing volumes to/from a quota allows administrators to adjust the resources that are subject to quota enforcement.
  • Dynamic Resource Allocation: QuantaStor supports dynamic volume management, including the creation and deletion of volumes. By adding volumes to a provisioning quota, administrators can ensure that newly created volumes are automatically included in the quota's capacity allocation. This simplifies resource management as new volumes are automatically subject to the quota's capacity restrictions and enforcement.
  • Capacity Planning and Tracking: Adding volumes to a provisioning quota provides a consolidated view of capacity utilization. Administrators can easily monitor and track the allocated capacity of associated volumes, allowing for better capacity planning and resource allocation decisions. It provides a centralized overview of how much capacity is consumed by the volumes associated with a specific quota.
  • Simplified Administration: QuantaStor offers a user-friendly interface for adding or removing volumes to/from provisioning quotas. Administrators can easily manage the association between volumes and quotas, either individually or in bulk. The interface allows for quick adjustments to quota assignments, enabling administrators to adapt resource allocations as needed.

Overall, the purpose of adding or removing volumes to/from a provisioning quota in QuantaStor is to control and manage the allocation of storage capacity to specific quotas, enforce quota limits, support dynamic resource allocation, facilitate capacity planning, and simplify administration of storage resources.
