Disables and detaches the cloud container from the appliance so that it can be enabled on another system.

In QuantaStor, the "Offline/Disable Cloud Storage Container" option serves the purpose of temporarily or permanently disabling a cloud storage container that has been configured within the QuantaStor system. Cloud containers can only be enabled on a single system at a time.

Here’s what this feature entails:

  • Temporary Disabling: When you choose to offline or disable a cloud storage container temporarily, QuantaStor stops any ongoing synchronization or access to that specific cloud storage container. This can be useful during maintenance tasks, upgrades, or troubleshooting sessions where you want to ensure that no changes are made to the cloud storage until you re-enable it.
  • Permanent Disabling: In some cases, you might want to permanently disable a cloud storage container. This action effectively removes the container from the list of active storage targets in QuantaStor. This could be necessary if you are decommissioning a cloud storage account or if the storage container is no longer needed.
  • Preventing Data Access: By offline or disabling a cloud storage container, QuantaStor ensures that no data operations (such as read or write operations) can be performed on that container from within the QuantaStor interface. This helps in maintaining data integrity and preventing accidental modifications.
  • Configuration Changes: Disabling a cloud storage container also prevents any changes to its configuration settings, such as access credentials, endpoint URLs, or encryption settings. This ensures that the container remains in a consistent state until it is re-enabled.

To perform these actions in QuantaStor, you typically navigate to the management interface where cloud storage containers are listed (often under a section like Storage Services or Cloud Storage), locate the specific container you wish to offline or disable, and then select the appropriate option. Always exercise caution when disabling cloud storage containers, as it may impact data availability and accessibility for associated storage pools or volumes.
